Trout Fishing Basics Trout Articles

Trout articles are a good way to stay up to date on information regarding tips, techniques and other news. This way we will have a better understanding of trout when you are out in the field fishing for them. All this info will be posted here for you, and I will update these articles as often as possible. Recreational Access Management Program.

For those of us living in Alberta, Canada. We now have new stewardship program in place. And it is called; Recreational Access Management Program, RAMP for short. This program is a three year program, from 2009 to 2012. RAMP is being piloted in 2 Wildlife Management Units or WMU’s. WMU 108 and 300 in southwestern corner of Alberta.

There are 29 maps covering 133,000 acres of private land and will be made available to for public access. To view these and the conditions, that are for both hunters and anglers. In the southwestern Alberta is home to some of our best trout fishing you can get to on this side of the Rocky Mountains. Conservation is on everyone’s mind these days and as trout fishing people we should take heed. I think it was in the early 70's that catch and release had started to hit it’s stride. The idea is to maintain and grow healthy trout fisheries.
