By including trout without skin in your diet twice a week, to maintain your balance of Omega 3 fatty acids is quite important, so please be sure to add some trout to your diet. Not only does it help in the against Coronary Heart Disease, it is also said to aid in battle against; Rheumatoid Arthritis, Depression and Alzheimer’s. There are two Omega 3 fatty acids found in trout, Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Where do you buy trout? You can buy trout at your local food or grocery store in the “meats” section. Or maybe at your farmers market, just to name two purchase trout. Some of the things you will want to look for when buying fresh trout are the following. Look at the meat it should be firm and moist, the color of the meat should be consistent all the way throughout the trout. Lastly the eye should be clear, without any distortion. After fishing and you want to cook your trout here are some simple rules to remember. Do not over cook your trout. Once the meat turns opaque and flakes really easy with a fork, good job it is done! When preparing your trout measure the thickest part of across the back and cook up to 10 to 14 minutes for every inch of thickness. Times the time by 2 if the trout is frozen. When storing your trout, please follow these steps. If you are going to eat you fish in 2-3 days after you catch it, first clean it and then place in a air tight container and refrigerate and 2-3 days later prepare and enjoy! If you are going to freeze your trout, please follow these steps. Clean it and put into a air tight container. Store in your freezer and prepare and enjoy within 3 months.
